Loosening My Grip: Part 2

'Woman From Tajikistan'

This portrait of a beautifully regal and wise looking Tajikistanian Woman was one of my favorites to paint so far in my quest to gain confidence in a 'strait to canvas' method of portrait art. I found the reference photo by Galibert Olivier on Pinterest and I just loved her face and the contrast in the colours don't match in conventional terms, but they add a lot of interest. Her eyes are striking and her wrinkles are beautifully set. I took a few days to paint this one because she drew me in so much, and I wanted to do her justice.

Painted in 2022.

11x14 Canvas Paper
