Brielle Part 2: Painting Heirlooms

Wow! 🤩

The eyes on this sweet baby girl are so bright and alive! They take you right into her world of innocence, joy and unconditional love. 😊

Brielle is a beautiful baby and she was a pleasure to paint. Her little sparkly bow was my favorite to render (makes me wanna paint a sparkly dress!). The shine in her eyes is so fresh and aware. Her little jean jacket and blouse are adorable. I always enjoy the challenge of new materials and trying my hand at their fibers, stitches and threads. Denim has many dimensions to it, as many fabrics do. I think it's important to focus on the what translates the fabric without crowding or overloading it. Best not to make a mess! If you gave me a microscope I could paint for hours! 😂

I am happy with how Brielle turned out and the clients were happy as well. All in a days (and days and days lol good stuff takes time!) work! 👍

Happy Client = Happy Artist 😉

My thoughts on the subject matter:

Babies are a fascinating subject to render in oil paints. Their vibrancy takes you in and I wanted to express that as much as possible. The newness and sense of awe that babies carry is contagious. It's a reminder to try to see the world with fresh eyes, from a place of wonder and excitement. It's easy to get bogged down in our daily loves or the events of the world, and looking into the eyes of a brand new human being is a poke in the heart that says: "Life is so much bigger than our daily lives; it's an adventure of wild curiosity and learning to ride the waves with love, faith and an open heart."

New babies are thrust into a world armed with only their love and their trust. Completely vulnerable to the world around them, yet, over time they learn to adapt, grow and become strong. It's inherent in humans to be adaptable, to learn to move in sync with its environment, to let the challenges around them help them to evolve instead of hindering their prosperity. We are an incredible species, born adorable and tough as nails.

Cheers to Babies for being great teachers!

Hugs,
